Mano Man, Ai Love Art

By Mira Nayak and Penny Nunes

The work that goes into every banner, every poster, and even every decoration goes unrecognized too often. People often overlook the countless hours, the constant blood, sweat, and tears that goes into every single project, but when the class banner, event posters, (hand drawn and digitally created), and exquisite decorations for every season are displayed it is all worth it. Projects begin building processes months in advance and it takes dedication and hard work to pull it off in time. There are millions of small details hidden within every creation that make every Homecoming, every Battle of the Classes, every Winter Wishes, every prom, and even every rally look magical. Every decoration is perfectly crafted by ASB’s design team.

Ailee Mano being one of the members, has dedicated time, effort, and millions of ideas to help make sure everything looks perfect for every event. She not only designs for ASB but she creates wonderful and intricate pieces for herself. Ailee does a lot of digital art and sees it as something she is proud of.

What is your favorite part of digital art?

“ I really like how you can fix your mistakes, you can do it as many times as you want, you can take as much time as you want. I use it to calm myself down, it’s really relaxing. Also you can try a lot of different media on it.”

How long does each project take you?

“Well–I only ever do digital so it’s going to be approximately like 20 hours.”

Where do you get your inspiration?

“Pinterest and other artists–pinterest for life.”

Is art something you want to pursue as a possible career?

“Yes and no. So yes because I kind of want to do it as a hobby–like a second job just for my own, and then I want to do graphic design or something to do with design for my actual career.”

What has your favorite project been?

“My favorite project…um…this is kinda hard–I’m really proud of my latest one which is, I made a desktop wallpaper and I really like it because it has everything I like in there–I draw a lot of angels and wings so there’s that, and I also–I think I did a good job on the lighting and contrast, I really like the vibe that it has.”
