Fashion With Fawson

By Nupur Apte and Juliette Guyman

Personal style is more than just the way we dress, it’s the life we live, the values we hold, and the things we love. Here we have Spanish teacher Jennee Fawson to talk about her eclectic-grunge style, and the things that inspire her wonderful wardrobe. Fawson represents herself and her life through her fabulous fits, inspiring all of us to be more in-touch with our inner Fawson.

How would you describe your style?

Eclectic and thrifted.

How do you plan your outfits?

Number 1: comfort. Number 2: kinda funky.

Who is your biggest inspiration fashion-wise?

Definitely 90’s and grunge fashion, but also what I can find at thrift stores. Some Instagram styles also inspire me.

Where is the majority of your wardrobe from?

The thrift store!

What do your clothes reflect about you?

My values: trying to have fun and thrifting to help the environment by purchasing second-hand clothing.

What fashion trend do you dislike?

I dislike fast fashion like SHEIN because they mass produce and the quality is poor.

What is your favorite fashion trend/era?

90s fashion

What is your favorite part about your outfits?

I want to be comfortable! I wear lots of dresses and try to wear good shoes that are comfortable. My goal is to make style and comfort combined.

What thrift stores do you like to go to?

I like Black and Brown, Crossroads, and Nooworks

Quoted from the fashionista herself, Fawson adds:

“One of my biggest fashion/style influences has been TRAVEL!

I am always inspired as I visit new places and cultures. I love to pick up special clothing or accessories on my travels. In the Christmas party photo (below), the pants I am wearing are from Istanbul, Turkey. (The amber necklace belonged to my grandmother, who collected amber). Oaxaca, Mexico was a beautiful place to visit – you can see me there wearing a traditional knit top at the Zapotec ruins of Monte Albán.

Living in Spain for 8 years also greatly influenced my style. I used to go to a lot of concerts and love a good rock n roll fashion vibe.

I also loved dressing up when I was a kid, my sisters and I would have fun coming up with some wild outfits from our dress up bin.”
