Leaders Inspiring Freshman Intelligence, warmly referred to as LIFE Crew, is Westmont’s most prominent club. An assortment of over 150 students, made up of sophomores, juniors and seniors, all dedicated to helping freshmen enter high school with as much ease as possible. LIFE Crew is led by seven student commissioners as well as beloved teachers Mr. Evans and Mr. Haskett.
At the end of summer, LIFE Crew hosts the Freshman Orientation at Westmont for the incoming class to learn about their campus and various extracurricular options. During the orientation, groups of freshmen walk around Westmont with members of LIFE Crew, learning about the theater programs, robotics, Associated Student Body (ASB), and so much more, all while getting to know the campus of their next four years of education. This coming year, the orientation takes place on August 7th, starting at 8:30 a.m. and ends around 12 p.m., with the new freshman class registering for their classes and beginning the start of what will grow to be an abundant collection of Westmont merch.
Throughout the year, on minimum days, LIFE Crew visits all freshman English classes with the goal of educating the freshmen on nuanced high school information. Topics range from next year’s class choices to the dos and don’ts of social media. All the while, members of LIFE Crew get to know the freshmen, acting as friends and mentors available for any questions the freshmen might have. The goal of LIFE Crew is simple: help the freshmen enter high school. How each freshman adapts from the move from middle to high school is different, but LIFE Crew is there to help each and every student in any way possible. To the freshmen—if you ever feel lost or have a question about what classes to sign up for, look for the recognizable LIFE Crew shirt, I promise you have a friend in them.
