Over my two years at Westmont, I have seen Pedro diligently work towards maintaining a clean campus. However, during the small breaks he has throughout the day, I witness the fun conversations he has with students all over campus. While I may not have gotten to know Pedro too well, occasional greetings or interactions indicate his sincerity and overall altruistic approach to the job, commitment to the job. Truly, Westmont will miss Pedro.
How many years have you spent at Westmont?
Spanish: Doce Años
English: Twelve years
How will you spend your retirement?
Spanish: Descansar un poco de tiempo, unos tres a seis meses sin trabajar y después vuelvo a trabajar un poco en un part time.
English: Rest for some time, three to six months of no work, then I’ll go back to working a little part time.
What is your favorite Westmont memory?
Spanish: Pues me la paso bien con toda la raza. Los niños y yo hablamos y se me van los días rápidos con ellos trabajando y saludandolos. Ando muy bien, no tengo nada malo de decir porque todo ha sido bonito. Me la paso bien.
English: Well, I have a great time, and I get along with everyone. The kids and I talk, and the days go by pretty fast, with them working and saying “hi.” I have a great time.
What will you miss about Westmont?
Spanish: Voy a extrañar los niños, los chavalos, los maestros; todos los voy extranar un poco pero voy estar dando visitas unos cuantos cuando pueda si todavía vivo en la bahía.
English: I am going to miss the kids and the teachers; I’m going to miss everyone a little bit but I’ll be visiting every once and a while when I can if I still live in the Bay Area.
Why did you want to work in the high school setting?
Spanish: Estuve sin trabajo por un año por un año y un amigo me dijo que había una posición aqui y yo fui inmediatamente porque tenía ganas de trabajar aquí. Trabajaba de dia porque me gustaba.
English: I was without work for a year and a friend told me that there was a position open here and I immediately applied for it because I really wanted to work here. I worked as a custodian because I liked it.
