Westmont’s very own Give and Love Club is dedicated to giving back to not only Westmont, but to communities where people may need extra support. The club’s mission, according to Co-president Lou Derand, is all about “caring for kids in hospitals, and reminding them that they are not alone.” Through fundraisers and creative projects, students in Give and Love Club work together to raise money for small toys, coloring books, and other comforting items. These gifts may seem small, but they play a big part in supporting the mental health of kids undergoing treatment. Recently, the club came together to assemble colorful goodie bags, each packed with toys, handmade cards, and origami decorations. These bags are then donated to children’s hospitals, bringing a bit of joy and warmth into hospital rooms. Co-president Abagail MeKonnen helps lead these efforts, ensuring that each bag feels personal and thoughtful. Derand and MeKonnen are always thinking of new ways to reach more kids and make them smile. The club reminds everyone that even small acts of kindness can make a big impact. Having a group like Give and Love Club on campus shows the heart of Westmont—students who care and take action.
Offer your support and join Give and Love Club every other B-day Wednesday in room 30 so you can get back to your own community in ways not thought of. Or add @whsgiveloveclub on instagram:https://www.instagram.com/whsgiveloveclub?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
