Dominating from both the pitcher’s mound and batter’s box, Regan Steele leads Westmont’s varsity softball team as the starting pitcher. Her determination and composure under pressure have made her an outstanding member of the team, as she has already faced over 300 batters in this season alone. Throughout all four years in the program Regan’s impact has been clear, pushing through injuries and consistently improving on and off the field. Outside of softball, she also joined Westmont’s field hockey team this year, proving her prowess as a multi-sport athlete.
What is your favorite part of softball?
My favorite part of softball would have to be the companionship and friends that you make along the way. Many of my closest friends have been made through softball, and I feel like since it is such a team sport it is so easy to form bonds and develop lifelong friendships.
What is your favorite memory from softball?
My favorite softball memory from school softball is beating Mitty, but my favorite softball memory of all time is going to Tahoe with my team for tournaments and being able to hang out at the beach after games.
What are your goals for this season?
My goals for this season are to strike people out and make any level of CCS, and I feel that on the path that we are on now, both of these goals seem plausible.
What’s your post-game meal?
My post softball meal really differs from game to game depending on how I’m feeling. I like to get a lot of protein in so I’ll usually have something with chicken, like a chicken sandwich or wings. I feel that I always eat the most unhealthy right after games because I worked for it.
Any advice for incoming softball players?
My advice for incoming softball players is to not be nervous and realize that it’s okay to make mistakes! Even the best players make mistakes and you should not put your head down just because you made an error or struck out. It’s what you learn from your mistakes that determines how good you will do in the season.
