In spite of an abundance of challenges that littered their preseason, the girls soccer team has persevered past them. As the start of the league season approached, the girls practiced diligently to improve their fitness and skills, hard work that paid off during their first two league games. Westmont defeated Gunderson 8-2 in their first game of the league season, with senior Evelyn Santos and sophomore Lujyne Shalaby scoring a hattrick apiece as well as junior Averi Halbert earning a brace. In Westmont’s game against former A-League team Lincoln, the team held a tight lead of 1-0 until the last few minutes of the game. Overall, the team’s resilience has been outstanding and continues to flourish as the season goes on. Be sure to support the girls soccer team at their next home match and senior night on February 13 at 7pm (Ceremony begins at 6:30).
