Yunhee Shin has proven herself to be one of the most incredibly talented students here at Westmont High School. She helped paint the mural for the Asian Student Union, worked on several banners for ASB, and is the artistic director for Latinos Unidos. Shin’s ability to display and celebrate various cultures on campus is impressive. Whether she is painting posters for events, or leading Latinos Unidos in a new art project (such as their Latino Hall of Fame display), Shin expresses her artistic freedom and talent on campus regularly. Not only does she benefit the community by celebrating cultural diversity, but she beautifies the school with art.
Shin was inspired by her art teacher who she has been with since second grade. She says that her teacher pushes her limits, which helps her learn new skills and inspires her daily. Her teacher is the one who pushed her to apply to art school. To add, Shin is familiar with all kinds of mediums– materials to make art. Her favorite types are gouache, digital, oil paints, and acrylic. She enjoys making sketchbook spreads as well. She hopes to express herself through art the way in which there is expression in movies and tv shows. Shin wants to continue her passion for art, as it is her way of storytelling and of course, something she loves to do.
