A Table of 4 Fellows

By Joseph Nian

Four of my closest friends, Kenneth Lin, Rinya Miyoshi, and Tony Lieu, sit at my table. This group of friends that I’ve met over my high school years is the group that I’ll be having my senior trip to Japan with. Hanging out nearly every day with one another, we’ve managed to not hate each other yet. Let me explain exactly why these four specific fellows sit at my table.

Kenneth and I, the most contrasting duo in our whole friend group, definitely share a brain cell…I wish. Kenneth on one hand is extremely smart, a straight-A student and one of the quieter people in our friend group. On the other hand, I have slightly worse grades than him (totally just “slightly”) and I’m also one of, if not the loudest one in our friend group. Despite our differences, we’ve known each other for seven years and counting. I hope Japan serves as a good memory for us before we inevitably get busy in college.

I met Rinya in freshman year P.E. class, during the pickleball unit. Seeing how athletic he was, I slowly but surely got closer to him and eventually became friends with him. During our senior trip, he will most definitely be our tour guide when we go to Japan as he will (hopefully) ensure we don’t get lost in a foreign country.

Despite only knowing him for a year, Tony and I have quickly gotten close to one another. Besides being my gym partner, he is also one of my go-to friends to ask when I want to hang out either in person or online. In Japan, I hope we will go on adventures late at night together as he takes aesthetic nightlife photos while I stuff my face with food.

As the clock for our senior trip slowly ticks down, this group of friends will begin to establish itself as one of my core memories of high school that always made my days with stupid jokes and laughter.
