College Focus: UC Davis

By Joseph Nian

Located in Northern California right near Sacramento, UC Davis is a public university under the University of California college system. Known for its prestige in its biological and agricultural programs, UC Davis holds its position as one of the better universities among the UCs.

Although I may not have experienced an in-depth campus tour of the university, I did experience a short one with Tiffany Teoh, the Westmont badminton coach who is also a Westmont and UC Davis Alumni. As my friends and I first got out of the car, we noticed the distinct smell of cow poop. Though jarring at first, it reminded me of just how big the agricultural program was at UC Davis.

Walking around the campus, I also realized the cute and funny landmarks spread everywhere. In fact, there are some random structures around the campus aptly named “Eggheads” after their head shape. Although they may be a little creepy to some, I find them extremely funny, especially the one mentioned in the picture above. According to Tiffany, if you rub that specific egghead, it will bring you academic success. You also can’t forget some of the delicious food nearby—that’s a pretty important factor for me when it comes to college campuses.

In all seriousness, UC Davis is a very intriguing and charming college to attend and explore, with various academic and social activities to participate in. UC Davis ensures to set up its students for success in both their university and post-university life.
