By Jordan Kwong

Fleetwood Mac, arguably the most iconic band in rock history, has produced many incredible songs. From slow, emotional beats to anthems of resilience, their music bridges generations. The band’s popularity stems from their blending of rock, pop, and soul music, making them an enjoyable listen for anyone. Furthermore, their ability to balance heartfelt themes with musical brilliance makes their songs incredible. Whether you are a regular listener or an occasional one, one thing is for sure: Fleetwood Mac is timeless. Here is a list of five tracks that showcase the band’s unparalleled talent and appeal.

  1. “Everywhere” (1987)

“I want to be with you everywhere.”

A gem from the Tango in the Night album, “Everywhere” is a song that displays the calming, dreamy side of Fleetwood Mac. The singer Christine McVie speaks to love’s capability to pull two individuals together. Her voice is ethereal, accompanied by shimmering synth sounds and a laid-back guitar riff. It is perfect for moments of joy and is instantly nostalgic, even if you didn’t listen to the song growing up.

  1. “Little Lies ” (1987)

“Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies.”

Another standout from Tango in the Night, “Little Lies” is a synth masterpiece. It captures the bittersweet nature of deception in love. Elements of pop and synth are masterfully blended in the piece, achieving a dreamy quality. Additionally, Christine McVie’s smooth vocals rise above a steady drumbeat and synthetic notes. It is melancholic yet uplifting, and irresistibly catchy. Perfect for a fall car ride, “Little Lies” is a timeless classic.

  1. “Dreams” (1977)

“Thunder only happens when it’s raining.”

With nearly 1.9 billion streams on Spotify, “Dreams” is Fleetwood Mac’s most iconic song – for good reason. Written and sung by Stevie Nicks, it encapsulates themes of letting go and finding peace. Her smoky vocals are combined with a steady drum beat and a bass line that hits the soul. A classic that resonates across generations, “Dreams” is ideal for late-night music sessions or times of self-reflection.

  1. “Gypsy” (1982)

“And you see your gypsy.”

Stevie Nicks’ “Gypsy,” from the Mirage album, is a deeply personal track that reflects on the earlier, simpler times. It is one of Fleetwood Mac’s most enchanting pieces, with guitar, piano, and drums creating a dream-like atmosphere. Nicks’ vocals are humble yet powerful, making for a captivating song. Overall, “Gypsy” is the perfect song for moments of uncertainty, reminding listeners of the beauty of life.

  1. “Silver Springs” (1977)

Time cast a spell on you, but you won’t forget me.”

Lastly, “Silver Springs” is another Fleetwood Mac classic. Originally intended for the Rumours album, the song was ultimately left off to save space. It channels the raw emotions of lost love and heartbreak into every lyric. In the background, guitar lines cascade and a piano gently plays. It is truly an emotional piece, leaving a memorable mark on listeners. For anyone in search of a song that embodies the lingering ache of love, “Silver Springs” is the one.
