Club Focus: Motorsports Club

By Mason Vargas

The Motorsports Club at Westmont High School is a newly established space for students passionate about motorsport and automotive culture. Led by a dedicated board of students—President Ishan Sharma (Sophomore), Vice President Aditya Mahajan (Junior), Treasurer Knox Friedman (Junior), and Secretary Mason Vargas (Junior)—the club is small but determined to grow into a thriving community.

While the name “Motorsports Club” emphasizes racing sports, the club’s vision extends beyond this. The board members aim to make the club a place where students who love anything with an engine—from cars and motorcycles to go-karts and classic vehicles—can come together. Their goal is to create a welcoming environment for students with diverse interests, whether they’re fans of high-speed Formula 1 races, endurance battles in the World Endurance Championship, thrilling turns of MotoGP, or the strategic excitement of NASCAR.

The club plans to host discussions on recent race results, explore the engineering behind top-performing vehicles, and even delve into the history and evolution of motorsports. They also aim to organize events like viewing parties for major races, or fun meetings playing games!

As the club continues to grow, they hope to become a central place for Westmont students to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and fuel each other’s passions for motorsports and automotives. The club meets in Mr. Hsu’s Room 2 usually on Fridays however that Friday of the month changes in accordance with the schedule of the month.
