Trapped for Ten: Lexa Gates

By Aydin Akyol

Lexa Gates is an emerging niche music artist known for her unique sound, often blending genres like indie pop, electronic, and alternative. In order to make a statement while promoting a new album, she trapped herself in a glass box. In this ambitious promotion stunt, an art installation popped up in Union Square in Brooklyn where Gates sat inside a glass box for 10 hours straight without food, water, phone or a toilet break. All she could do was sit on a couch or  listen to her new debut album; ‘Elite Vessel’ with her fans. When asked about the interesting album title, Gates replied, “‘Elite Vessel’ is more than just a title. It’s a manifestation of everything I’m striving to become. I am the vessel, and this album represents my journey toward everything I’ve ever dreamed of. It’s a surreal feeling.”
