Recently, a beloved Kentucky bus driver helped financially aid a first grader to be able to dress up for pajama day. Larry Farish Jr., a driver usually affectionately referred to by the kids as “Mr. Larry” said that when he picked up Levi, a usually cheerful student, he was crying. Farish Jr., asked him what was wrong as Levi sat away from all of his usual friends. Levi told him that he didn’t own any pajamas for the school dress up day, and that his family could not afford them. Heartbroken for the child, Farish Jr. drove to the nearest Family Dollar after dropping off the kids to make things right. He purchased two different pairs of pajama pants and rushed back to the school.
When the office pulled Levi out of his class, he was overjoyed. In an interview Farish Jr. did with Today he shared “(I said to Levi) you were hurting this morning, you were crying, so I got you these pajamas.” Upon delivery he reported that Levi’s face “lit up, he was so excited.” Later speaking to Levi, Today reported that Levi said, “when he got me pajamas I did a happy cry!”
Serving as an inspiration to not only the kids he drives, but everyone around him, Farish Jr. humbly stated that he loves what he does, and that bringing joy to others is why he drives the school bus.
