Falling for Isotope

By Kathryn Tanaka

I’m not sure what it is about autumn, but every year, the crunchy leaves and wispy fog never fail to put me in a cheerfully glum mood. The changing season also comes with a shift in the songs I listen to. Gone are the days of high-tempo synth, replaced with something a bit more nostalgic. This year, I discovered Wasia Project and they have wasted no time becoming one of my favorite artists.

Their latest EP, Isotope, was released in August. The British duo is known for their jazzy instrumentals and smooth vocals, perfect for fall. Their backgrounds in classical music (known to be heavily emotional) translate into the somber melodies of “Takes Me Back Home” and “Tell Me Lies (fin).” While California hasn’t experienced many days below 70 degrees, the raw, ethereal sound of Wasia Project provides an enticing preview of the cooler days to come.
