Over Veterans Day weekend, the Westmont Cheerleading program had an exciting start to their competition season as both the Varsity and JV teams competed in different competitions, showing off their skills and dedication. The Varsity team traveled to Los Angeles for their annual Manhattan Beach competition at Mira Costa High School. They performed a clean, nearly flawless routine, hitting zero deductions on their scoresheet; which is exactly what they were aiming for in this competition. This achievement, especially so early in the season, is a great start and sets them up for success as they prepare for Nationals in Florida.
While Varsity competed in LA, the JV team traveled to Del Campo High School in Sacramento, where they delivered an impressive performance that earned them second place. Their hard work and dedication have clearly paid off, and they’re determined to keep this energy going strong throughout the season. JV Captain Breanna Sullivan says “I am looking forward to improving our routine, growing our bonds with each other and getting far in Nationals. At practices, we have been working on hitting our routine completely during full outs, upgrading our routine and keeping energy throughout practices.“ Their success this weekend shows that JV, just like Varsity, is on a promising path with great potential as they prepare for Nationals.
With both teams performing so well at these early competitions, Westmont Cheer is on track for an exciting season. These early wins are a great sign, and everyone is excited to see how both teams continue to grow and succeed as they work toward Nationals. Go Warriors!
