Oh the Joy it Brings

By Lili Metanovic

Have you ever walked into a classroom and felt immediately comforted? Well I have, and for me, it is Room 58. The smile and greeting from none other than Andrew Evans makes me feel instantly at ease whenever I come to Journalism. Everyone who has the privilege of experiencing his warm-hearted personality, including myself, always has a smile on their face because of him.

One of the best parts of Journalism is the freedom to cover topics and create pages about things I’m passionate about. Learning how to design online pages has been a new unique experience. We use tools like Canva and Photoshop to arrange articles, images, and/or videos into cohesive and visually appealing layouts. Unlike other classes with set assignments, Journalism encourages us to explore our interests or research things we don’t know much about. Having that freedom makes writing feel less like a chore and more like an opportunity to share something meaningful about my interests or learn something new that excites me.

Journalism has become more than just a class for me; it’s a place where I can fully be myself. It’s taught me valuable skills and given me a place to fuel my creativity, all while being a space where I can feel comfortable. If you’re looking for a class that allows you to work with amazing people and have fun, I can’t recommend Journalism enough.
