Step Up
I absolutely loved this move! Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have an unlikely love story, with him being a hip-hop dancer from the streets and her going to a prestigious arts school for ballet. While I know the movie plot can be a little niche, I love the dance and classic rom-com elements of the movie. Overall, for me, it was a 10/10.
She’s The Man
I would give this movie an 8.5/10. It has a very unique storyline and a lot of iconic funny moments when Amanda Bynes pretends to be a man. Overall I’d say it was a fun watch but doesn’t have the it factor of some other movies I’ve seen. +.5 for Channing Tatum.
Set It Up
I really wanted to like this movie but something was just off. The two leads, Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell have an unlikely love story while trying to set up their bosses for their own benefit. I think this movie had such great potential but overall went flat midway through and stayed that way. There wasn’t necessarily anything bad, but also nothing good. 6/10
50 First Dates
This is the first movie that I realized I really liked rom-coms! In the show Drew Barrymore suffers short-term memory loss, allowing Adam Sandler to have a new attempt at winning her over every day. I liked this movie and it’s also a good family watch. I would give it a solid 8/10.
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
Considering this movie is a more recent rom-com it’s not too bad. It took me a while to get used to the awkward male leads, but overall it’s a lighthearted watch and has enough notable moments to keep the film memorable. 7/10
The Proposal
The Proposal is one of my favorite rom-coms! I love the constant humor, and the energy between the two leads is hilarious. Sandra Bullock getting to know Ryan Reynolds’ small country family gets funnier and funnier as you watch. The movie is quotable in my household to this day and easily deserves a 10/10.
Anyone But You
I’d say this movie is pretty good! While sometimes I’m not so sure about Sydney Sweeney’s acting I think this role fits her well. They could have done a better job setting up the storyline but once you get into the movie it’s really fun. 8.7/10
He’s All That
This is the absolute worst movie, let alone a rom-com I’ve ever seen. If you want to cringe and risk ripping out your hair this movie is for you. The storyline is bland, acting terrible, and the misrepresentation of how youth actually act is insane. I will never get the time back that I wasted watching this movie. -10000/10
