Saltwater

By Aliyah Miramontes

She walks with grace
A smile on her face
Stars in her eyes
Hair flowing down her sides
Sand between her toes
The ocean calls her home
Reflection of the moon on the
water has it glistening with desire
Curious she lets go of her sanity

Strong waves pushing back and forth
A breeze running its course
Cold to the touch
A warning to stay away but she follows
anyway
The deeper she goes leaves her astray
Tears running down her face
Consumed by the ocean but it’s to late
Her last breath filled with promises she
never fulfilled
