Wondrous Water Polo

By Maya Bourne

As the fourth year of Westmont Water Polo winds down, the girls’ team has brought it home with a respectable record of 4-9. Led by coach Kate Gortovnik and captains Dharma McInturff and Sofia Chappars, the team has continued to propel recognition for the game of water polo at Westmont this year, including a great turnout at their senior night on October 9th! Senior and captain Dharma McInturff reflects, “it’s been pretty amazing to watch and be part of a team that went from no league with no coach to an A-league team in four years.” Sophomore Terryn Tran explains that her favorite part of the water polo season was “when everyone on our team scored in one game. It was awesome to see everyone get a goal and be recognized on our team.” with a whopping 96 goals scored this season over 13 games, the girls’ water polo team has been taking the pool by storm. Make sure to come see their last home game on October 23 at 4pm, and show some Westmont spirit!

Boys water polo has been absolutely dominating the A-league this season with an astounding 12-3 record and a 3-2 league record. Captains Ethan Bissell, Guiseppe Cusmano, and Gibson Chase have led their team to an amazing reputation and season this year. Be sure to come to their senior night on October 23 at 5pm, and show some support for our graduating seniors!
