“Never judge a book by its cover”, everyone says until it comes to judging athletes based on their uniforms. Uniforms are more than just a piece of clothing; they represent team spirit, Westmont pride, and are a key factor in intimidating an opposing team. Senior Lexi Gourvennec, an avid white field hockey jersey lover, comments on her uniforms’ impact on her, “when I look good, I feel good, I play good.” Whether it’s the classic look of our basketball jerseys, the sleek design of a water polo suit, or the durable football attire, each sport tries its best to balance comfort and aesthetic design. Read on to learn more about our Westmont sports uniforms and see which ones stand out most!
Cross Country
New this season, the team purchased matching blue taco shorts to go along with their jerseys. As it is part of their new required race uniform, they intend on winning many races with the help of these reliable shorts. While some may hate on the shorts, saying that they are not Westmont colors and truly not an intimidation factor in the slightest, I see them as the perfect representation of the carefree and goofy personalities of the cross country team. I would rate the new uniforms a 10/10!
Color Guard
If you have ever been to a Westmont Football game before, you have surely spotted these dazzling color guard masterpieces. With their reflective sequins, they are hard to miss! Watching the color guard perform alongside the band during halftime, it is hard to look away. Showcasing the perfect ombre from red to black, the dress’s colors ignite warrior pride in all who watch the team perform. This may be my favorite uniform at Westmont, also receiving at 10/10!
Girls Volleyball
Simple and classy, the girls volleyball jerseys are so cute! I like how the sleeves fade from red and the collars are accented with color as well. The font on the front is easy to read and the W logo is a unique touch to the jersey not seen on every other sports jersey. With each player’s number showcased on both the front and back of the jersey they are practical as well. Overall I would rate the volleyball uniforms a 8/10.

Dance Team
The Westmont dancers have a uniform that perfectly blends style with functionality. With all the cool moves they do, the outfit must have a stretchy fabric that will stay on and be flexible during performances, allowing them maximum room for movement. Little details such as the red stripes add an extra flare that catches the eye and makes the team look cohesive. I love these uniforms because I feel that they reflect the dance team’s energy and enthusiasm. My rating for this one is a 9/10!
Softball Camo Jersey
While all the previous uniforms mentioned have been my favorites at Westmont, I had to denote my least favorite to provide perspective to my rating scale. The girls’ softball camo jersey has to be the ugliest thing I have ever laid my eyes on. Some have even commented that it reminds them of cow print or Minecraft. Aside from the hideous design, many softball players complain that the jersey doesn’t fit well and the material is sweaty and suffocating. Considering that the team has three other jersey options to choose from, a white, a black, and a red, I have no idea why they would continue wearing this one. This uniform gets a 0.0/10 from me!
