Otra Phillips, a spirited student and member of Westmont’s theater department is often seen roaming the halls in her standout outfits. Often commented on her flair for fashion, Phillips draws her experimental style from several outlets, such as Pinterest, celebrities, and thrifts. Her attention to detail elevates every aspect of her looks and represents Otra’s creative eye for clothing. For this issue of The Shield, we interviewed Otra on various aspects of her wardrobe to be shared with our community. What is a go-to item in your closet?: MY JEANS!! Either flared or baggy:]]
Where do you get your clothes from?: Thrifting, my brother, Amazon, Hot Topic, Ross, DD’s discount, Walmart, a lot of family members just hand me down clothes too
Summer or fall fashion?: Fall
Go to shoes?: My Converse, DCs, or boots
Favorite way to accessorize?: My fav way to accessorize right now is with hats! But I also really love coordinating little details in my outfit with my jewelry.
What is a fashion trend you love?: I LOVE anything bedazzled, belts, jeans, jewelry, hats, EVERYTHING
What is a fashion trend you hate?: I hate the dad shoes streetwear trend, or I like wearing athletic shoes with jeans honestly
What are some fashion tips you have?: Don’t be afraid to experiment! Finding your style takes so much trial and error and trying stuff that just seems interesting to you can go a long way. I’d also say it’s super helpful to save outfit inspiration on Pinterest. That’s when I really started diving into finding my style. My last tip, which is so simple but so true, is to wear what makes YOU feel CONFIDENT AND FIERCE!! Literally who cares what other people think, have fun, and make sure that YOU love what you put on every day!!
