The Paris Olympics and Paralympics have produced some beautiful and heartfelt stories of emotion in the last few months. However, one story has stood out from the rest. Having the best performance of their lives, Olympic and Paralympic athletes, Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall have each claimed gold in their respective track and field events, inspiring the world with their unwavering love and dedication to one another. Tara, a world renowned and charismatic long jumper, claimed gold in early August during the Olympic games, and Hunter, the determined and heartful runner, just a month later, won gold in the men’s 400m. Known for her charismatic personality and unmistakable cowboy boots, Tara, a proud University of Texas Austin graduate, has gone undefeated in her 2024 track and field season, an amazing feat. Hunter, who won silver in 2016 and bronze at Tokyo, has finally achieved his lifelong goal of gold alongside his wife.
Videos of the young couple have gone viral on the internet in the past two months, with many referencing the Taylor Swift song, “The Alchemy,” in the Woodhalls’ love story. Swift sings, “There was no chance/ Trying to be the greatest in the league/ Where’s the trophy?/ He just comes running over to me.” Instagram and TikTok users alike have paired this snippet of the song with videos of both of the two athletes running into each other’s arms immediately after winning gold, crying, laughing, and celebrating. This intimate and raw moment caught by cameras has touched the hearts of millions around the world, displaying their faithful and deep love for one another. Congratulations Tara and Hunter!
