Unique Costume Ideas

By Madeline Crowley

Are you fed up with seeing Halloween costumes that lack creativity and effort? It’s time to retire the lazy M&M, classic cat, and boring peanut butter-and-jelly pair costumes. Halloween is your chance to transform into anything you desire, so why not make it count? Regardless of your age or gender, the costume ideas below are good inspiration if you are looking for something truly exceptional this spooky season.

  1. Corn

Who doesn’t love a good ol ‘corn on the cob? The kernels on this costume can be handmade in a few different ways; you can fold up old socks and paint them yellow or paint the bottom of a recyclable egg carton.

  1. Chipotle

I mean come on how could you go wrong with this! Chipotle has now launched a series of costumes sold at exclusive Spirit Halloween stores and online. Dress up with your friend group and each person can choose between a burrito, water cup, bag, fork, or even a napkin! This is a good way to go all out and show your love for chipotle if you are a fiend like me!

  1. Sushi

Without a doubt you could easily find all the items for this costume in your closet right now. A white shirt, pillow, and green scarf to wrap around your waist is all you need to be this fishy! You’ll be looking so delicious everyone will want to eat you!

  1. KFC

You may notice a common theme of food appearing here but do not fear. The KFC man and chicken pair is the ideal couples costume for halloween.  The empty bowl of finger licking chicken can also serve as the perfect item for collecting your candy when trick or treating!

  1. Salad

This is another perfect couples or friends costume and who doesn’t love ranch? Vegetables are a great idea for a costume as they remind you that it’s important to eat healthy amid all of the candy being passed out!

  1. Founding father

Whether you choose to be Washington, Jefferson, Adams, or Franklin, all of these historical legends serve as a symbol of American pride! The pieces for this costume should be relatively easy to find for cheap, piece by piece, at your local goodwill. Who knows, this costume may even earn you an A in your history class?

  1.  Leprechaun

Last but not least, a leprechaun is a very creative costume idea! It will help gather hype for the most underrated holiday of all time, Saint Patrick’s day! Holding a four leaf clover, you may also manifest some good luck for yourself. If you are a proud red head like senior Lily Bourne this costume would fit you very well.
