The 2010s, a golden era for music with the rise of free music streaming platforms like Spotify and Pandora, introduced several thousands of hit songs. A select few of these songs have even lasted almost a decade later as the 2024 year comes to a close. To bring back some nostalgia, here are some throwback songs from the early 2010s.
- “Down” – As a personal favorite of mine, this song was a staple in my household as my brother would blast it from his iPod touch. With its catchy beat, lyrics, and even a small section of rap, “Down” soon exploded as one of the early 2010s hits.
- “California Girls” – A must-pick song for karaoke, “California Girls” is yet another catchy pop song that trended in the 2010s. Featuring famous singers Katy Perry and Snoop Dog, it was almost a guaranteed success as it reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks.
- “Dynamite” – Throughout the countless road trips my family has driven, “Dynamite” is a staple song that always came up on the car radio. This hyper and energy-filled song has lyrics so catchy that it never fails to uplift everyone’s spirit.
- “Just the Way You Are”- With his recent comeback into modern-day hits with his new song “Die With A Smile” in collaboration with Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars’ previous songs in the previous decade should not be forgotten either. Hitting number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in only 2 months after its release, “Just the Way You Are” is another Bruno Mars song that you might want to go back and reminisce on.
- “Baby” – As a high schooler himself during the production of this song, Justin Bieber made one of the most popular songs of the 2010 decade. Used in numerous social media posts and videos, “Baby” soon became the most-viewed YouTube video for years to come, engraving its legacy as one of the most popular 2010 songs.
