Nisene Marks Volunteering

By Carter Cormier

Every third Sunday of the month, a collection of old nature geeks come together to help maintain and improve our beloved redwood forest. The Advocates for Nisene Marks State Park bring out weed whackers, rakes, and handsaws—the trained park rangers equipped with chainsaws break up felled trees blocking trails.

We kick the mornings off with coffee, snacks, and introductions. Although the advocacy is an older crowd, the volunteering remains a fun, productive time. Join us on November 17. It’s a rewarding, hands-on way to give back to the environment and help keep our trails beautiful for everyone.
