49ers Season Prediction

By: Cameron Kobara

Brief Overview

With the beginning of September there also comes the beginning of America’s favorite pastime,  a brand new NFL season. With the season drawing near, we can prepare and predict the performance of the San Francisco 49ers, one of last year’s superbowl hosting teams who sadly could not come out on top by the time the fourth quarter ended. However not all hope is entirely lost, the 49ers are home to many of the top players in the league such as Geroge Kittle, Christian Mccaffrey, Trent Williams, Nick Bosa, and many other players whose fans and experts alike consider top 10 in their positions. However all of these great players come at a cost, with current cap space trouble and ongoing contract negotiations as well as contract negotiations at the end of this season for key players such as Brock Purdy, The 2024-2025 NFL season could be the last chance for the 49ers to win their first superbowl since 1995, However, before we can even think about the Super Bowl, we must predict the 49ers regular season record that will be able to propel them to the Super Bowl LIX.

Key factors

Before determining the actual record of the 49ers we must analyze some key factors that may shift the balance between the 49ers going to the SuperBowl and having another soul, crushing loss. Key factors that could affect the 49ers this season could include major injuries among key players such as Dre Greenlaw, who tore his Achilles in the Super Bowl defeat against the Chiefs. Dre Greenlaw is a key player in the 49ers defense who would sorely be missed and forces the 49ers to create new gameplans when it comes to their defense. Other key factors could be the loss of key players such as Arik Armstead, the longtime 49ers interior defensive lineman who felt “extremely disrespected” by the 49ers low. ball offer. Some fans have stated that this move was necessary to make room for other major contracts, and due to Armstead’s history of being quite injury prone.

CURRENT ROSTER

The current 49ers roster remains quite the same with a select few differences after the 2024 draft, Major key players remain on the team such as, Brock Purdy, George Kittle, Christian Mccaffrey, Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, Charvarious Ward, and many others. However on the other hand Many other veteran players have either been released, are in contract negotiations, or are on injury reserve, players suchas, Arik Armstead(released), Brandon Aiyuk & Trent Williams (contract negotiations), and Talanoa Hufanga (PUP).

The 49ers have also acquired many new players since the draft who have shined during the preseason. Players drafted by the 49ers include Ricky Pearsall WR, Renardo Green CB, Dominick Puni OL, Malik Mustapha S, Isaac Guerendo RB,  Jacob Cowing WR, Jarrett Kingston OL, and Tatum Bethune LB.

KEY PLAYERS

There will be many standout players this season who are heavily expected to have a huge impact on the overall team’s performance, in particular Brock Purdy, Purdy has demonstrated nothing less than amazing ball placement and great timing when he’s in the pocket, this off season will also be his very first full off- season, after having to go to  rehab after the injuries he suffered in the NFC championship game against the Eagles two years ago, and despite not having a full offseason he still came back and brought his team to the SuperBowl, so we can only imagine how well Purdy will perform this season. We can also expect huge impacts from players such as George Kittle, Christian Mccaffrey, Fred Warner, and many others who have seen nothing but statistical increases in their careers.

Opponents and schedule

Now that we have discussed the team’s roster, overall performance, and key factors and players, we can now dive deep into the 49ers 2024-2025 schedule with some opinions from experts.

After reviewing season predictions made by 10 sports experts and analysts the following data was found.

The most common prediction was a 12-5 win/loss ratio,

50% (5/10 experts) of the sports experts predicted that the 49ers will go 12/5,

10% (1/10 experts) predicted 13/4,
