if we are quiet enough
we might hear
our childhood giggles
as we run around the house
or perhaps the sound of nerf guns firing
and just maybe
if we are truly lucky
we would see the ghosts of our past
as they dance under the lights
and drink out of garden hoses
unaware of their future
but alas
our laughter is too loud
so i guess we will continue to live in the now
for as long as we have it
together
