Brilliant Baseball

By Kendall Albrecht

After a swinging start to their season, Westmont Baseball currently places third in their league with a record of 6-4, and holds a 12-6 record overall. Triumphant, the team attributes this success to passionate coaches and outstanding athletes. With a batting average of .321, Matthew Rienhardt has contributed 18 hits throughout the season. Sean Chen, with 11 RBIs (runs batted in) and a slugging percentage of .358, also proves himself a valuable player. Leading the pitching staff, Mason Pound maintains a 1.54 ERA (earned run average). In addition to scoring runs and winning games, the Warrior Baseball team took time to honor the memory of former player #8, Kirk Vasquez, at their 8th home game against Live Oak on April 11. “It’s been a fun season so far,” comments senior Joseph Dyer, “We’ve had a lot of close games that have gone our way, but also a couple that didn’t. We build off those losses and they make us better.” In anticipation of continued accomplishments, the team practices tirelessly. Come support Westmont Baseball as they take on Pioneer on April 23!
