By Holly Williams
You taught me how to pace myself
You taught me how to code
You taught me how to stay between
The lane lines on the road
I show you what I draw and paint
You marvel and exclaim
When my drawings were in crayon
You marveled just the same
Together we read storybooks
Together we watch TV
Together we did my math work
When I was stuck in IM3
You know that I love musicals
You pretend they’re not a bore
You know just how my day went
By the way I shut my door
I know we have such little time
I know we’ll make it through
I know folks I meet in college
Won’t be half as smart as you
And now here comes the big goodbye
And ain’t it such a shame
And when I’m a thousand miles away
I’ll love you just the same
