Like most teenage girls, we adore Starbucks. Every last penny we have is spent on the large variety of drinks they have to offer whether it be an ice-cold refresher, sugary frappuccino, or a perfectly brewed coffee. Scrolling through TikTok or Instagram Reels, we see a lot of crazy drink combinations that we’ve always been hesitant to try. We decided to take the risk and try all of the wild drinks so you don’t have to!
Name: Oreo Milkshake
What we ordered: Vanilla bean caramel frappe with vanilla sweet cream cold foam, extra caramel drizzle, and cookie crumbles blended in.
How much it cost: $7.60 for a grande
Sophia’s ranking: 9/10
Donya’s ranking: 9.5/10
Scrolling through our Pinterest feeds, this delectable combination delightfully surprised us. Unlike your standard Oreo milkshake, this spectacular frappuccino included a caramel drizzle that made the drink even more desirable. The topping of cold foam added a flavorful addition of vanilla compared to the standard whipped cream, making the drink even more delicious. The cookie crumbles throughout the vanilla frappe base perfected the texture, giving it a slight crunch, elevating the drink overall. We undoubtedly recommend this drink to all Oreo fanatics, as well as anyone searching to satisfy a major sweet tooth.
Name: Chai Berry Blast
What we ordered: iced chai tea latte with vanilla sweet cream cold foam, strawberry drizzle, and strawberry inclusions.
How much it cost: $7.10 for a grande
Sophia’s ranking: 4/10
Donya’s ranking: 4/10
The chai berry blast caught our attention as soon as it appeared on our feed, but unfortunately, this drink did not live up to its expectations. As devoted chai lovers, we assumed we would enjoy the drink, but to our discovery, we realized that chai and fruity flavors do not mix well. The warm, cozy spices of the chai contradicted the sweet, summery flavor of the strawberries. The textures of the chai, cold foam, strawberry inclusions, and chunks of strawberry drizzle created an awkward mix that left us quite unsatisfied. The taste of the chai was assuredly the only redeeming factor for this unusual drink so, next time we would definitely skip the strawberry.
Name: Matcha Flower
What we ordered: Matcha latte with lavender
How much it cost: $5.95 for a grande
Sophia’s ranking:10 /10
Donya’s ranking: 9.5/10
When we asked the Starbucks barista to make us an off-the-menu drink, she went above and beyond by presenting us with a flavorful beverage that has yet to hit the Starbucks menu. The kind barista included the unreleased lavender flavoring in a simple iced matcha latte, making the drink even more memorable. At first glance, we were hesitant about the drink as we are not big fans of matcha, but after the first sip, we were hooked. The lavender perfectly masked the typical earthy taste of matcha and complimented it perfectly. Enjoying its floral flavors, Donya Vandersteen remarked, “this tastes like a spring field”. Although it can’t be ordered yet, we highly recommend it to all matcha lovers and haters: order the matcha flower as soon as it hits the menu.
