I haven’t had meat in so long. My dear sister, Marina Halbert, who once downed 7 hamburgers in one sitting, recently embraced a vegetarian lifestyle. In the short time she has refused to eat meat, I have found that I too, no longer eat meat. And I love meat. My dad follows a Mediterranean diet, meaning no red meat and lots and lots of stinkin’ chickpeas. I mean—everywhere I turn all I can see are chickpeas. Due to no longer eating red meat, and because Marina just doesn’t eat it in general, my dad no longer cooks meat. I went from eating chicken (or other meat) with every meal and hamburgers every other day to only getting my fix when I go to my friends’ houses and feast upon the now-rare delicacy there. Now don’t get me wrong, I support Marina and her (oh-so-fun) decision to become vegetarian after watching a nature documentary on Netflix, but man do I miss meat.
