Here at Westmont High School lies the infamous and beloved Heather Tran. Heather is a senior here at Westmont, and is a core pillar of the community that she’s grown to care for and admire. Current senior Anjali Nayak, a dear and close friend to Tran, states “Every time Heather enters room 58, she always showers us with compliments; she’s my rock, she’s always there for me, and I love her.”
During school hours, Tran, along with Nayak, are the proud Co-Presidents of the official Book Worm Club here at school. The club is dedicated to providing students with outlets for fun and enjoyable reading activities, while making sure students feel welcomed and included on and off campus. Alongside Book Worm Club, Tran is the Co-President of Club Med, aimed to alleviate student stress, while practicing meditation techniques to find inner peace. Tran is also a part of LIFE crew (Leaders Inspiring Freshman Excellence) which aims to provide resources and outlets for incoming freshmen to express themselves, while getting the help they need to succeed in high school.
Tran tells me how even though all of these may seem not connected, they all have a community aspect to them which is something she loves to contribute to and be a part of. Anything that involves meeting, communicating, and working with new people is something Tran loves and looks forward to any chance she gets!
Off-campus, Tran loves to take pictures any chance she gets to add to her albums, and is an active member of photography class. She loves to read in her free time and has active discussions with her club. Tran also states how she loves to bake and hang out with her friends during her free time after school.
Overall, Tran loves and admires her community to the fullest. Any chance she gets is either making someone smile, or cheering them up, and we see all she does and the impact it has on our community.
