Incredible Iman: Warrior Wardrobe

By Keira De Vita

You may catch her around the halls in a stylish pair of jeans or in her iconic Pink sweatshirts. Iman Abdi rules the fashion world. With such a simple yet established style, Iman knows how to dress to conquer each day. For as long as I—a fashion connoisseur myself—can remember, Iman has accomplished one unspoken goal: looking stylishly put together every day. From her new shoes to pull-together outfits, or her in-season fall sweaters that my friends and I gawk over, Iman does it time and time again. She just never fails.

Enthralled by her knack for fashion she was voted this issue’s girl Warrior Wardrobe! I interviewed her so that The Shield readers could delve a bit deeper by discovering what goes on in this incredibly fashionable student’s head.

What is your favorite clothing brand?

“Zara! If I went shopping more I would definitely be going to Zara but alas… The brand for the most part really fits my ideal closet. They also have a good mix of staple pieces and things you would want in a capsule wardrobe.”

What is your favorite trend?

“Subtle flare jeans. It’s not something I ever expected to like so much but I really do. They bring a casualness to every outfit that can only be compared to straight-leg jeans, NOT skinny jeans.”

What is your least favorite trend?

“Patchwork jeans. There’s just something innately wrong with these jeans. I think it’s because there’s never a clean stitch which is what I prefer. But also, I just think for the most part that they are an abomination.”

Favorite piece of clothing you own?

“My mother’s fur jacket. I have no idea where she got it from but I swear it’s the perfect thing to wear for cold weather (especially when you are someone who can’t handle it). It’s oversized and black which makes it easy to throw over anything.

Opinions on the 2024 bow trend?

“I like the bow trend but in moderation. It’s a cute accessory, even something to tie a shirt with. I remember seeing a black sweater with a bunch of frilly pink bows on it and hating it to my core.”

A staple piece in your closet?

“A grey sweatshirt.”
