Winter guard season is here! Often confused with color guard, winter guard dances to their own music whereas color guard only dances to a marching band. Along with the ability to choose their own tune, winter guard has more freedoms in terms of what choreography and styles they can explore.
Taking continuous applications for the running months december-april, winter guard accepts new members graciously. Although daunting to join a new sport, winter guard requires no previous experience. When the team gains a new member they are quickly welcomed and start training with the coach, Christiana Mandler, and veteran members. Starting out on the flag, as a new member gains confidence and skill they move on to the rifle, and eventually saber.
So far, the winter guard has been working to perfect their skills with their various tools. Soon, they will start working on student-led choreography and formations in preparation for competition.
