Soccer, more commonly known as football or fútbol in several parts of the world is a sport that many love. Around the world, there are thousands of teams that all belong to different leagues, but there is one league that I love in particular, La Liga MX, also known as Liga BBVA MX. La Liga MX is a professional soccer division in Mexico. Liga MX was founded in 1943. As of today, there are 18 teams in the division. The teams that are most commonly known and perhaps the most successful teams in the league are Club America and Guadalajara Chivas.
La Liga MX is more than just a professional soccer division in Mexico. Soccer, in general, takes a big part of Mexican culture. Around the country, there are children of all ages—even young toddler ages—who play soccer. The majority of the people who show interest in the sport is all due to their favorite player who is on a team that is a part of La Liga MX. Besides that, in Mexican culture, it is very common that there are arguments– completely in a joking manner– about the teams that are supported in a household. It is a common tradition that every weekend, the television is turned on to watch at least one soccer match and to support the teams of La Liga MX.
La Liga MX has gained a numerous number of followers and supporters worldwide. Having blossomed from a small range of teams, the league has had several great achievements and has well-prepared players to be drafted into” La Seleccion Mexicana”—Mexico’s national team that has the best players of the nation– and to potentially play in other major tournaments and leagues. The matches are intense, and I definitely recommend watching an intense match of Club America against Guadalajara Chivas so you too can experience the rewarding satisfaction of watching good soccer. La Liga MX will continue to grow and I am excited to see what the league has to offer whether it comes to players or simply just another great match of soccer on the weekends.
