The Perfect Thanksgiving Dinner

By Laura Lipcsei

Turkey, creamy mashed potatoes with gravy and cranberry sauce, green beans; this simple yet delicious meal is my perfect Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, the main course, is what makes a Thanksgiving dinner a Thanksgiving dinner. Without a turkey, are you even celebrating the holiday? When thinking of Thanksgiving, the first thing people think of are turkeys, so having a Thanksgiving dinner without one should be a crime. Mashed potatoes, the perfect side dish, complements the turkey perfectly. It allows you to eat as much turkey as you want without drying out your mouth, and is an iconic dish even by itself. The gravy and cranberry sauce adds more depth to the flavor of both the turkey and the mashed potatoes, and like the mashed potatoes, makes the turkey less dry. The green beans, the only vegetable I’ll be eating that day, add a factor of freshness to the entire meal (and makes me feel less guilty for eating so many fatty foods). These simple yet delicious dishes create a perfect Thanksgiving dinner.
