There is nothing that feels like another life more than reading, at least to me.
With millions of books from a million lifetimes still around today, I can live in any time zone, at any status, simply by immersing myself in a book.
I can be the leader of a kingdom, or a girl who can bend fire, or a measly peasant who ends up changing the world. I can fall in love, or out of love, with the turn of a few hundred pages. I can start wars and end them. I can turn back time and see the future. I can live to see curses broken and remade, gods be born and die, and ancient kings rise and fall. I can walk on the moon, swim to the bottom of the sea, and rattle the stars. I can be anything and everyone I am not.
When I’m bored of my own life, or simply too tired to think about it, books can let me live another one. For that, for all the people who decided to pick up a pen one day and write, I am thankful.
