Die Hard is a 1988 Christmas action movie starring Bruce Willis as John McClane, a New York City cop who travels to Los Angeles to visit his estranged wife and children for Christmas. While attending a holiday party at her workplace, a group of terrorists led by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) take over the building and take hold of everyone in the building as hostages. McClane manages to escape and becomes the only hope for the hostages. He fights his way through the terrorists using sneaky tactics and clever tricks in order to save everyone in the building. Turning into a very undersized Rambo, McClane has to try his best to stop the terrorist from stealing the sums of money hidden in the vault of the building.
Having come out in the late 80s, the classic film has been a key part of my own family’s holiday traditions, with my brother and I sitting down to watch it in our grandma’s old house during our holiday dinner. Although with a biased opinion, the movie is a necessity for anyone looking to fill that classic action movie itch that many get. The stupidly impossible stunts and the impractical pain tolerance of McClane during his trials make the movie extremely goofy to watch and enjoyable. Again, this classic film is an absolute must-watch and should be even more highly praised than it’s four Grammy nominations.
