Poppin’ Off at Lip Sync!

By Lauren Marino and Melania Metanovic

As a senior at Westmont, Shreya Madhireddy, has been a member of ASB for 4 years. Her junior year she was elected Outreach Director of the executive board; senior year, Vice President. She works hard to keep the ASB class bonded and her class in check during spirit weeks. At Westmont, she also serves as the President of Best Buddies where she coordinates events for our school as well as events with other schools within the Best Buddies community.

During Battle of the Classes and Homecoming, each class puts on lip sync performances that are choreographed for many weeks and performed at lunch. The classes dance battle it out for a spot to perform at the rallies for a chance at the first place spot, which is later announced at the end of the rally. Since Shreya’s freshman year, the class of 2023 has earned a spot to perform at the rally each year.  Shreya never disappoints with her intricate choreography, each dance perfectly fits the theme given, but with her own unique twist. Trying to get twenty or more people to be synchronized and memorize all the different dances and transitions can be challenging, but she is always up for the challenge. For several weeks leading up to the performance Shreya dedicated her time and energy into choreography and teaching the lip sync dances to the class of 2023. On her own time she comes up with the dances and 1-2 times a week will take the time to teach them to her class. Her dedication to her class is beyond and it does not go unnoticed. Go Shreya!
