Brilliant Book Fairs

By Amelia Lipcsei

An avid reader as a child, I used to count down the days until the next book fair appeared at my elementary school. From the plethora of books they had to the fun toys they sold, book fairs provided me with endless opportunities to enjoy myself. Impatiently waiting for the bell to ring, I would stand right in front of the classroom door, desperately wanting to explore the endless opportunities of the book fair. At my elementary school, book fairs were both outside in the quad and inside in a separate classroom. Personally, I preferred the outside one as it sold the best toys. Smelly markers, fidgets, and glow-in-the-dark bracelets littered the shelves of the fair. Even better, the enormous supply of books the fair offered always filled me with glee. I remember stacking up on the Dork Diaries series and the Magic Tree House series, which were some of my favorite books at the time. Even though I no longer attend book fairs, I will always remember the excitement that they brought me.
