Charline Gervais is currently a junior at Westmont and is actively involved on campus. She is known for her fun, spunky style that aligns perfectly with her outgoing personality. Who is/are your fashion icons?
I really love Madeleine White and 90s Chanel.
What is a go-to item in your closet?
A go-to item in my closet is my white cropped puffer jacket, it can go with almost anything and really keeps me warm.
Where do you get your clothes from?
I usually get my clothes from Forever 21, sometimes Zara, and other online stores.
How do you like to accessorize?
I like to match my shoes with my shirt and sometimes add bows in my hair that compliment the colors of my outfit. If I have a running theme for the day then my jewelry will complement it, but I don’t like putting on too much jewelry.
What is a fashion trend you love?
I really love the 90s straight jeans trend, they really complement so many body types and highlight the right aspects of people, and they can be dressed up or dressed down.
What is a fashion trend you hate?
I dislike the Crocs comeback/trend, I really don’t find them appealing, they are hard to style, and in my opinion they are so overpriced. I especially think the high heel Crocs are just not it.
What fashion tips do you have?
I think that everyone should try different eras or different trends. Once you find something that works for you, feel free to explore a little bit, you can dress up the 50s one day and then be 90s inspired the next. If it looks good on you, and you enjoy wearing it, then don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Express yourself through your clothes, and never be ashamed of something you’re wearing if you chose to wear it. Also, never get discouraged if something doesn’t look the same on you as it did on a world-famous model, everyone is different and has a different body. Clothes are meant to fit you, you aren’t meant to fit the clothes.
Do you have any go-to clothing items or accessories?
I always love wearing heels and I have a lot of lucky jewelry, those just make me feel comfortable as they are items that I know very well and can circulate with my outfits.
Tell us something unique about your fashion and style!
I really love fashion, it is such an amazing way to express yourself. I basically live by the saying “You look good, you feel good.”, I like to think of it as if I look good I’ll feel better, even if I am in the worst possible mood a good outfit can always put a smile on my face. I really love wearing outfits that look expensive but really aren’t that expensive, especially since in today’s society everything costs so much. Everyone has their own style so if anyone tells you you shouldn’t be wearing something, or someone makes fun of you for it, if you enjoy wearing it, then wear it! Wearing outfits even around the house is so fun, and singing to your favorite songs while trying on a mix of clothes can be so fun!
