After the last issue’s “What Are You Listening To” section, everyone noticed that social sciences teacher, Chris Mock, was listening to Radiohead. Intrigued, I got to interview him about his music taste.
What is your current favorite song?
(After much consideration): “Love on the Run by Broken Bells.”
What are your current favorite albums?
“Funeral by Arcade Fire, In Rainbows by Radiohead, and Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd.”
(In a later email): “Ps one of my other favorite albums is Battle of Los Angeles by Rage Against the Machine (they were the best band I’ve ever seen live too).”
Favorite artist?
“Local natives.”
Favorite playlist?
“My 90s playlist. My wife gets excited when I put it on, she likes it too.”
Could we possibly get a link to your class playlist?
“Actually, I use iTunes. Spotify would always put on not-school-appropriate songs, and my wife got mad when I messed up her algorithm. I actually like iTunes better for discovering new music, Spotify plays the same songs.”
Where is your favorite place to listen to music and what do you listen to?
“In the car. I listen to everything.”
What kind of music did you listen to in high school?
“Similar music, mostly indie stuff. Some metal hardcore stuff, and rap that I don’t listen to anymore.”
Last but not least, what is your go-to karaoke song?
“Under the Bridge” by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
