Westmont boys and girls soccer pre-seasons have recently kicked off!
So far, the girl’s team has a record of 2-1-1 with a great 7-0 win over Del Mar High School in a pre-season scrimmage and a hard-fought 2-1 win over Saratoga High School in the Firebird Tournament. Senior and co-captain Nadia Zaya says, “It’s been a new experience for the team as we have a completely new coaching staff for our program but we’re working hard in preseason and experimenting with a completely new skill set and environment. I am hopeful for the season and hope to make it to CCS.”
On the other hand, the boy’s team is sitting at a record of 1-1-1. With a great start to pre-season, they had a tremendous 5-0 win over Live Oak High School with goals from senior and co-captain Evan Griffith, sophomore Spencer Hoang, freshman Oscar Medel, and sophomore Sebastien Martin Abram Aranda-Ortiz. Sophomore Spencer Hoang states, “job is not finished,” with hopes of having a successful and undefeated season. The team also states, “We keep our balls at 11.2 psi”- which is an ongoing inside joke on the team.
Make sure to catch some of the teams’ games. At the start of January, girls will play Tuesdays and Thursdays and boys play Wednesdays and Fridays.
