Lonely People

By Nupur Kudapkar

lonely people

don’t ask for love

yet

they search for it everywhere

in the random strangers

that they met at the grocery store

in the corners of alleyways

on their walk back home

and the cracks in between books on shelves at the library

you don’t notice them, normally

because of how quiet they are

they yearn for love

so deep in their soul

and desperately all over their body

humans are meant to be loved, after all

lonely people

don’t ask for love

but they deserve

the greatest love stories

ever told
