Outstanding Orange San Francisco Giants

By Rachel Walker

Whenever the color orange is shown in sports, one team comes to most people’s mind, The San Francisco Giants. Although they didn’t make the playoffs this year, the Giants still have one of the best and most successful franchises in baseball history. In fact, the Giants have the most total wins out of every team in the MLB, with a total of 11,301 wins all time. The most recent time the Giants won the World Series was in 2016. At that time, the Giants had franchise players such as Buster Posey, Matt Cain, Brandon Crawford, and Hunter Pence to name a few. The current players for the Giants continue to shine, despite their poor record. Players such as Joc Pederson, Mike Yastrzemski, and Logan Webb are the face of the new generation. Three outstanding players exemplify what the Giants symbolize: hard work and charisma. Giants players have always been household names, not only because of their outstanding talents but also because of their incredible organization. The Giants organization has been run by Larry Baer since 2012. Before he was CEO, he was Vice President from 1992 to 2012. A true testament to how great the Giant’s front office is is the fact many retired Giants players take a job of some form in the front office. Famous players such as Will Clark, Buster Posey, Willie Mays, and the late Willie McCovey have all or currently do work in the front office for the Giants. The Giants organization holds an array of fundraisers and donates large sums of money to local charities. When talking about the Giants, Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper need to be mentioned. Unbelievable players for the Giants in the 80s, the two are some of the best announcers in the game. Not only are they very knowledgeable about baseball and the Giants, but also the two are hilarious. Whether the Giants are ahead or being blown out of the water, Krukow and Kuiper never miss an opportunity to joke around. Discussing life, baseball history, or a fan, listeners always feel overjoyed hearing them speak. However, the most important aspect of Giants baseball is of course: the orange uniforms. Showing off the city-connected jersey or orange jersey for “Orange Friday,” the uniforms are one of a kind and the best orange jerseys in baseball.
