With sixteen players and nine returning varsity athletes, the girls volleyball team is ready to start the season. This season, girls volleyball has welcomed a new varsity coach, Brian Soto. Despite the 2-8 record last season, Coach Soto can sense that the girls are ready to demolish the opposing teams this season. Senior Larena Tannert expresses, “my favorite thing about volleyball are my teammates. They are so supportive and I love playing with them every day. They are always there for me and we have so much fun together on and off the court!” With eight seniors on the team, they are all excited for their last season together. Junior and second year varsity player Marina Halbert reflects on the team’s strengths and weaknesses and surmises that “the volleyball team is super good at sprinting and getting the ball back over the net when we make a mistake and cheering each other on. We need some improvement in communication on the court.”  Sophomore and two year varsity player Audrey Jones concludes, “I’m really looking forward to playing with my team again. Last season we all became friends and this season I’m super excited to be able to come together again. Being in a gym with everyone every day you grow close to the girls around you.” As the season resumes, the girls have been working hard towards having a great season. Come support the girls volleyball team at their first home game on September 22nd against Ann Sobrato High School. Go volleyball!!
