Astrology

Astrology, commonly known for horoscope signs and notorious “crystal girls,” allows a small insight into one’s destiny… allegedly. Astrology is a pseudoscience that claims to predict or perceive human affairs and terrestrial events by studying the movements and positions of celestial objects. Astrology was originally created to inform an individual about the course of their life based on the position of the planets and the 12 astrological constellations (zodiac signs) at the time of their birth. The 12 signs, consisting of Sagittarius, Capricorn, Libra, Leo, Scorpio, Gemini, Aquarius, Taurus, Aries, Virgo, Pisces, and Cancer, each have their own set of characteristics attached that a person of that zodiac is destined to follow. So why might a person choose to believe in astrology? As seen on social media platforms like Tiktok and Instagram, horoscopes are extremely popular; many people believe that astrology can show them their true nature and fate. Many people are drawn to astrology due to its ability to provide clarity or self-awareness in an individual’s qualities and characteristics. Astrology can allow people to understand themselves better and provide or validate a person’s self-concept. Astrology, although based on little facts and rarely accurate, can be helpful to some people and encourage self-reflection. Astrology allows people to feel safe and comfortable in themselves.
