New Demon Slayer Season

By Adam Sarsfield

For new watchers, I would recommend watching the movie and first season of the show before reading this article because it will either spoil parts of the show for you or this article will confuse you. After the massive success of the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie, for the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series, the creators and producers of Kimetsu no Yaiba have been trying to ride their hype train as long as possible. Studio Ufotable, in the past several weeks, has been releasing a new season of Kimetsu no Yaiba, covering the Entertainment Arc of the manga. The first episode in Kimetsu no Yaiba season two covers Tanjiro trying to learn more about Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku and the team going to intercept a demon that is terrorizing the town of Yoshiwara in the red-light district.

The new season’s first episode conveyed a wide range of emotions, especially when Tanjiro informed Rengoku’s family about his death. The episode is a whopping 40 minutes long and is packed with lots of new scenes. Starting off the new season there is a recap of the final moments in the Mugen Train where Shinjuro Rengoku is killed by the demon Akaza. This leaves the team in tears and they are driven to train even harder to be able to get revenge on Akaza. The story then shifts focus onto Tanjiro who attempts to tell Kyōjurō’s family the messages he wished to tell them. The audience learns that Kyōjurō’s father, Shinjuro Rengoku, is a drunk who is still grieving over the death of his wife. Kyōjurō also has a younger brother who is not able to conjure enough skill with a sword to be able to be a Demon Slayer. We learn that there is more history behind Sun Breathing and it is the most powerful breathing form in existence. There is much more to see as this season progresses and I would highly recommend watching the show on either Crunchyroll or Funimation. On Crunchyroll, you cannot watch the season without a premium membership but on Funimation, you can watch the first three episodes.
