Meat-alternatives Saving Lives!

By Collin Murray

Recently, the world has seen a large increase in meat-alternatives being offered in popular restaurants and grocery stores, the most popular protein alternative being soy products. In 2021, the global meat-substitute market was valued at $5.37 billion, and is expected to reach over $10 billion by 2028, with almost 80 million people in the United States alone currently consuming meat-alternatives. It is estimated that throughout 2021, meat alternatives from two of the industry’s leading producers, Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods, spared the lives of well over 600,000 animals in the U.S. alone. If you think that’s impressive, World Animal Protection (WAP), a nonprofit animal rights organization, stresses that the true figure is actually closer to one million animals spared!
